PORTS OF SANTA CATARINA GROW 11.38% IN THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF 2024

Cargo handling at ports in Santa Catarina climbed by 11.38% in the first two months of 2024, above the national average of 10.02%. The state’s contribution to cargo handling across the country was 5.08% for the year, amounting to more than 10 million tons. 7.38 million tons were moved by long-haul routes, and 2.66 million via cabotage. Containers stood out, accounting for 4 million tons, or 18.72% of total national movement. Portonave and Porto Itapoá were two of Brazil’s top four ports. The Port of São Francisco do Sul had the highest volume (2.9 million tons), followed by Itapoá, Portonave, and Imbituba.
