PORTS OF PARANAGUA AND ANTONINA UPDATE UNLOADING LOGISTIC RULES FOR FERTILIZER IMPORTS

The logistic of fertilizer operations at the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina has increased since the second half of 2021. With the new logistic rules, productivity has become even more efficient, increasing by almost 30% for each unloading operation. “The Port of Paranaguá has one of the best unloading logistic operation among the Brazilian ports. To ensure greater efficiency in the fertilizer segment, the ‘average board’ ranges from 6 thousand to 9 thousand tons per day, per berth or ship”, said CEO Luiz Fernando Garcia. The current average is around 40 thousand tons per day (almost two ships per day), considering the volume that has been handled from October 2021 to March 2022. The port invested in scales as well, which ended up simplifying trucks’ services. “We went up from 800 thousand tons per month to more than one million tons”, said Luiz Teixeira da Silva Júnior, the Director of Operations.
