PORTS ADMINISTRATION OF MADEIRA INVESTS 700 THOUSAND EUROS TO PROVIDE GREEN ENERGY TO DOCKED SHIPS

The Ports Administration of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM) will invest around 700 thousand euros in the “Green Ports Madeira” project to supply green energy to ships docked in the archipelago. Developed in partnership with the Madeira Electricity Company and co-financed by the European Union, the project aims to assess the feasibility of Onshore Power Supply (OPS) infrastructure in ports, allowing ships to turn off engines during docking and connect to the regional power grid. The energy will come from renewable sources, aiming for decarbonization and effective emission reduction. The project also explores energy co-production for port consumption.
