PORTOS DO PARANÁ POSTS 14.3% THROUGHPUT GROWTH IN MAY ON EXPORT GAINS

Portos do Paraná handled 6.12 million tonnes in May, up 14.3% year on year, supported by stronger export volumes. Exports rose 28.8% to 4.04 million tonnes, while imports slipped to 2.07 million tonnes. Soybean shipments led the increase, jumping 91% to 1.58 million tonnes, with year to date exports up 29%. Soymeal exports climbed 27% to 796,000 tonnes. Containerized export cargo increased 4% to 824,300 tonnes, while frozen meat shipments reached 1.5 million tonnes in the first five months of the year. On the import side, container volumes grew 12% to 651,000 tonnes, whereas fertilizer imports fell 14% to 825,000 tonnes. Total throughput reached 28.87 million tonnes from January to May, up 2.4% from a year earlier.
