PORT OF SANTOS UPDATES RULES FOR ROAD CARGO SCHEDULING

The Port Authority of Santos (APS) has implemented a new standard for scheduling road cargo. Under this new standard, scheduling must be completed when the invoice is issued. This implies that truck drivers, who were previously compelled to pass through the regulatory yard, can now proceed directly to the port. The appointment must be made within six hours of the invoice being issued, or within three hours if the cargo’s origin is within 300 kilometers of the port. This procedure aims to prevent congestion on the access roads to the Baixada. The rule came into effect on April 2 and there is a two-month adaptation period.
