PETROBRAS SETS RECORD FOR LNG IMPORT OPERATIONS IN 2021

This year, Petrobras reached a record in import operations for liquefied natural gas (LNG). The historic milestone takes place during a year of high thermoelectric dispatch, to face the water crisis. In a statement, the company announced that on November 4, it reached the milestone of 104 transshipment operations of LNG cargo between vessels (a procedure known as ship-to-ship) at the company’s regasification terminals. The previous record was 103 operations in 2014. By the end of the year, Petrobras expects to reach 120 transshipment this year. Since 2009, when the first LNG terminal in Brazil began operating, the company has already carried out 716 transshipment operations in total. The oil company highlighted that the record is the result of “a set of initiatives adopted by Petrobras to expand the supply of natural gas, ensuring compliance with its commitments in the current scenario of the national water crisis.”
