PARANAGUÁ PORT: DEPTH OF ACCESS CHANNEL WILL BE EXPANDED

The Canal da Galheta, which is the access channel to the Port of Paranaguá, will be deepened to 15.5 meters after the concession. A public consultation for the concession notice has been opened, and the requested depth will be achieved in the fourth year of the concession. At present, the canal’s depth is 12 meters, but the aim is to deepen it to 13.3 meters within the first two years of signing the contract. This will enable larger ships to enter the port, making it more competitive. The project includes various investments, such as expanding the access channel, widening the evolution basin, and demolishing Pedra da Palangana. The implementation of the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) system will help to control ship traffic, thereby improving waterway safety. The concession auction, which has no set date yet, will use the lowest tariff associated with the highest concession value as a criterion.
