PARAÍBA CLOSES CROP WITH 7.4 MILLION TONS OF SUGAR FOR 2022–2023

With a final harvest of 7,429,674,490 tons for 2022–2023, the state of Paraiba can now proudly report that sugarcane output has increased significantly. Of this total volume, producers affiliated with the Association of Cane Planters of Paraba (Asplan) grew over 3,9 million tons of sugarcane. With a volume of 5,687,959 tons, the current harvest was likewise larger than that of the previous season (2021/22) and surpassing the ones from 2020/21 (6,080,490) and 2019/20 (6,059,540). According to José Inácio de Morais, president of Asplan, “The outcome was quite encouraging with a better output level than the previous three harvests. This harvest was marked by price increase of the ton of sugarcane and good rains”.
