MINAS GERAIS: MILLS HAVE CRUSHED 77.6 MILLION TONS OF SUGARCANE IN THE 2023-24 HARVEST

Sugarcane crushing during the 2023-24 harvest in Minas Gerais has reached 77.6 million tons as of December 1, according to the Association of Sugarcane Industries of Minas Gerais (Siamig). This is a 15.6% increase over the same period in the previous crop. Sugar output has reached 5.34 million tons, a 17.2% rise over the same period the previous year. Moreover, 295,000 tons of sugar were produced in the second part of November alone, representing an 11% increase over the same period in the previous crop. In comparison to the same period last year, overall ethanol output has climbed by 12%, reaching 3.18 billion liters.
