MATO GROSSO SEES ETHANOL OUTPUT HIT 8.44 BLN LITERS IN 2026/27

Mato Grosso is expected to produce 8.44 billion liters of ethanol in the 2026/27 season, up 16.08% from the previous cycle, according to IMEA. Growth will be supported by expanding corn ethanol capacity and the start-up of new plants, bringing the state’s total to 14 corn ethanol facilities. In 2025/26, Mato Grosso produced 7.27 billion liters and retained its position as Brazil’s second-largest ethanol producer. Corn ethanol accounted for 6.18 billion liters, representing about 62% of national corn-based ethanol output and reinforcing the state’s leadership in the segment. National ethanol production totaled 37.30 billion liters in 2025/26, down 0.79% year-on-year, while Mato Grosso continued to gain market share through investments in processing capacity and biofuel output.
