MATO GROSSO EXPORTS 2% MORE SOYABEANS IN THE FIRST SEMESTER

As the largest national producer of soyabeans, Mato Grosso also leads as the largest Brazilian exporter of grain. In the first half of this year, the state shipped 14.4 million tons abroad, volume 2% higher than that sold at the same time last year. The data are from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex). To understand the importance of the state for the sector in the country, the second most exporting state is Paraná, which shipped from January to June 4.4 million tons, 30% less (it is worth remembering that the state had a strong fall in the harvest due to the climate) than the 6.3 million tons of 2018. If you consider all of last year, Paraná exported a total of 12.9 million tons, much less than the first 6 months of this year in Mato Grosso.
