MATO GROSSO DO SUL SOYBEAN HARVEST NEARS COMPLETION

Mato Grosso do Sul has harvested 98.1% of its 2025/26 soybean area, or 4.7 million hectares, with final yields revised higher despite earlier drought and heat. Based on 713 field samples covering 19.5% of the area, average productivity was raised to 61.73 bags/ha from 52.82, lifting output to 17.76 million tons, up 26.3% year-on-year. Total planted area reached 4.79 million hectares, a 5.9% increase. Safrinha corn sowing hit 99.8% of 2.2 million hectares by April 24, broadly in line with last year, after delays linked to the soybean harvest. Initial estimates point to 84.2 bags/ha and 11.14 million tons of corn. Soybean prices averaged R$110.38 per 60-kg bag, up 1.09% week-on-week, while corn traded near R$51. Forward sales remain slow at 46% of expected output. Weather and price trends now guide producer decisions.
