ITAPOÁ PORT BREAKS THROUGHPUT RECORD FOR THE 2ND TIME IN 2023

The Port of Itapoá, located on the Northern coast of Santa Catarina, reached a new milestone in May, handling a record-breaking 98,113 TEUs in a single month. This marks the second time the terminal has surpassed its historical record this year, with 92,662 TEUs handled in March. In addition to the significant TEU numbers, the port saw an increase in truck movements, with 44,159 entries and exits recorded in May compared to 42,921 in March. Notably, the handling of LCL cargo (Less Container Load) also experienced a surge, achieving the highest rate in the past four years. Last year, it expanded its yard by over 50,000 m², providing a static capacity for up to 22,000 containers. Furthermore, an ongoing expansion project aims to add 150,000 m² of yard space, ultimately reaching 450,000 m².
