In 2024, Brazil produced 7.7 billion liters of corn ethanol, a 32.8% increase from the previous year, reinforcing its position as the world’s second-largest producer. The ethanol-to-gasoline price ratio reached 65.3%, the best competitiveness since 2010. Fuel consumption hit 59.3 billion liters, with hydrated ethanol increasing by 5.4 billion liters. Unica president Evandro Gussi highlighted ethanol’s role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and saving consumers money. The year also saw key bioenergy policies approved, including the Fuel of the Future program. Additionally, the “Vai de Etanol” campaign, led by Tadeu Schmidt, promotes ethanol’s benefits for sustainability, the economy, and consumers. Since flex-fuel technology’s launch, Brazil has prevented over 710 million tons of CO2 emissions and saved R$130 billion.
