ETHANOL PRODUCTION INCREASED BY 10% IN THE 2023-24 HARVEST

Brazil’s ethanol output climbed by 10% year on year in the 2023-24 crop year, reaching 25.21 billion liters as of October 16. Of the total, 14.86 billion liters were hydrous ethanol, an 8.97% rise, while 10.35 billion liters were anhydrous ethanol, representing an 11.53% increase. According to the Sugarcane and Biofuels Industry Union (Unica), the units in the center-south region produced 1.77 billion liters of ethanol in the first 15 days of October, with 1.04 billion liters of hydrous ethanol (up 54.12%) and 729.94 million liters of anhydrous ethanol (up 2.76%). Ethanol output from corn climbed by 45.50% over the previous year, reaching 3.27 billion liters. Hydrous ethanol sales grew 13.27% in the first half of October, totaling 1.26 billion liters, while anhydrous ethanol sales declined 8.52%, totaling 438.05 million liters.
