CHINA BUYS 25% OF PARANA’S PRODUCTION AND BECOMES THE STATE’S MAIN “CUSTOMER”

China has become the state of Paraná’s largest customer, accounting for 25% of its exports totaling USD 3.7 billion from January to July 2023. In 2022, the state ranked third in Brazil due to investments from China in infrastructure, agriculture, and car production. The Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná (Fiep) regards China as a strategic partner and believes that, in addition to commodities, the connection may be strengthened by developing new markets in Asia owing to the Asian country’s geopolitical importance. Financial investments in infrastructure, logistics, and technology transfer are also being considered.
