ETHANOL IN BRAZIL’S CENTER-SOUTH REGION GROWS IN 2026

Ethanol sales, sugarcane crushing, and industrial production gained momentum in the 2026/27 harvest season, driven by the biofuel’s greater competitiveness at fuel stations and expanding consumption in the domestic market. Brazil’s Center-South sugar and ethanol industry recorded significant growth in ethanol commercialization during the second half of April in the 2026/27 crop season, supported by ethanol’s stronger competitiveness compared to gasoline, rising domestic demand, and increased operating activity at mills. According to consolidated industry data, the total volume of ethanol sold by production units in April reached 2.74 billion liters, including 985.68 million liters of anhydrous ethanol and 1.76 billion liters of hydrous ethanol. Performance in the domestic market was also positive. The average daily sales volume increased 15.26% compared to March, totaling 1.75 billion liters during the month.
