DATAGRO ESTIMATES 38.30 MILLION TONS OF SUGAR FOR BRAZIL’S CENTER-SOUTH

DATAGRO estimates that Brazil’s center-south region will crush 590 million tons of sugarcane during the harvest of 2023–2024, up 6.9% from the harvest of 2022–2023. About 38.30 million tons of sugar are expected for the area, representing an increase of 13.1% from the previous season. DATAGRO’s projections point to an estimated ethanol production of 30.96 billion liters, an increase of 5.9% compared to 2022/23, 11.70 billion liters of anhydrous (+3.5%) and 19.26 billion liters of hydrous ethanol (+7.5%). Brazil’s north and northeast regions are expected to harvest 58 million tons of sugarcane in 2023–2024, up 3.6% from 2022–2023, 3.45 million tons of sugar (+6.2%), and 2.2 billion liters of ethanol.
