CONAB: SUGAR CANE PRODUCTION REACHES ESTIMATED RECORD OF 677.6 MI T IN 2023/24

Sugar cane production in Brazil reached an estimated record of 677.6 million tons in the 2023/24 crop, representing an increase of 10.9% compared to the previous cycle, according to the National Supply Company (Conab). The result is influenced by favorable climatic conditions and investments in the sugarcane sector. The Southeast region, the main producer, is expected to increase the harvest by 12.2%, totaling 434.98 million tons. The record growth in sugar cane production also boosts sugar production, estimated at 46.88 million tons, and ethanol production, projected at 34.05 billion liters, including a 36.3% increase in corn ethanol production.
