CONAB LOWERS GRAIN PRODUCTION OUTLOOK, WHILE STILL PROJECTING RECORD GRAIN CROP

According to the National Supply Company (Conab), the 2022/2023 Brazilian grain production is expected to reach 312.20 million tons, up 15% from the last cycle. Compared to the previous estimate in November, it is a drop of 0.3% (835.9 thousand) due to lower corn productivity and a reduction in the area planted with rice. With the conclusion of the sowing of the first crops in December, the evolution of crops, and the effects of climate behavior are now drawing more attention from producers. With the total planted area in the country estimated at 76.969 million hectares, Brazilian agriculture maintains a growth trend of 3.3% (2.49 thousand hectares) over the area of the 2021/2022 cycle.
