CHINA TO IMPORT “SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT” OF BRAZILIAN CORN IN 2022/23

The Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Beijing stated in a report that China should seek a substantial amount of corn for imports in Brazil, as Brazilian corn is now available and priced competitively with domestic corn with the arrival of the first vessel of Brazilian corn in January 2023. According to the document, China will purchase 18 million tonnes of corn overall in 2022–2023. Brazil should be able to export up to 50 million tons of corn in the 2022–2023 cycle at full capacity.
