CHINA INCREASES BRAZILIAN SOYBEAN IMPORTS BY 20%

China imported 34.432 million tons of soybeans from Brazil in May. Data from the Ministry of Economy’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) show a 20% increase over the 28.741 million tons in 2022. With a share of 70.23%, China is the biggest purchaser of the Brazilian oilseed. Spain comes in second place with 1.749 million tons, 17% below the same period last year. Thailand ranks third with 1.328 million tons, up 17% from the prior year. In April 2023, Brazil exported 49.026 million tons of soybeans, up from 43.027 million tons during the same period in the previous year. Soybean exports from Mato Grosso accounted for 35.28 percent of all Brazilian exports.
