CARAMURU TO BUILD SOY-BASED ETHANOL PLANT IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2022

The first quarter of 2022 came with a net income of R$ 27.66 million for the company Caramuru Alimentos. The biofuels sector reached a positive gross result of R$ 90.42 in the period, whereas biodiesel had a revenue of R$ 590.6 million. Soon, these results will also include the performance of Caramuru’s first ethanol plant. The unit is in Sorriso, a city in the northern state of Mato Grosso, and will use soybeans as raw material. According to the company’s report, it is expected to start operating in the first half of 2022, with a production of around 10 million liters of ethanol per year. This is one of the first unit to produce soy-based ethanol on a commercial scale in Brazil”, said Caramuru. The company had previously confirmed to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) that it would be concluded by February 2020.
