BUMPER HARVEST UPS THROUGHPUT AT BRAZIL’S SAO FRANCISCO DO SUL PORT BY 34%

The record grain harvest in the country is having a positive impact on the Port of São Francisco do Sul, making this August the best month in the history of the port complex. In the past 31 days, cargo throughput at Santa Catarina’s largest port reached 1.8 million tonnes, a 34% increase compared to July, when 1.4 million tons were recorded. Exports, driven by corn (578,000 tonnes) and soybeans (531,000 tonnes), reached 1.1 million tonnes. Conversely, imports reached 727,000 tonnes, led by steel products such as coils, bars, and steel sheets (400,000 tonnes) and fertilizers (326,000 tonnes). Year-to-date, the loading and unloading of products reached 10.8 million tonnes, an increase of 25% compared to the first eight months of 2022 (8.6 million tonnes).
