BSBIOS ACQUIRES BIODIESEL PLANT IN PARAGUAY

On January 5, BSBios, Brazil’s largest biodiesel producer, agreed to buy La Paloma Industrial Complex in Paraguay, which crushes soybeans and produces biodiesel. The transaction’s value was not disclosed. The complex can crush 50,000 tons of soy per year, yielding up to 7 million liters of biodiesel and 38,000 tons of soybean meal, hulls, and vegetable oil. The unit is located in Canindeyú, Paraguay’s third largest soybean producing region. The location is advantageous for sourcing raw materials for the factory. According to Battistella, BSBios intends to advance in the region’s supplier certification.
