BRAZIL’S PARANÁ PORTS REGISTER RECORD THROUGHPUT IN FEBRUARY

Portos do Paraná achieved a record in February 2024, handling 5,350,437 tonnes, a 5% increase from February 2022. CEO Luiz Fernando Garcia attributes this to last year’s backlog, expecting continued high activity despite potential crop failures. Soybean and sugar exports notably surged by 172% and 123%, respectively. Imports of fertilizers also rose by 15%. January also saw a record-breaking volume. Gabriel Vieira, Operations Director, highlighted a 19% growth in cargo movement in the first two months of 2024. Revenues from foreign markets in January reached US$1.82 billion, up 29.2% from the previous year.
