BRAZILIAN AGRIBUSINESS STRIKES RECORD HIGH EXPORTS IN MAY

Brazilian agribusiness exports reached US$16.78 billion in May, representing an increase of 11.2% compared to the same month in 2022. This is the first time exports have exceeded US$16 billion in a single month since 1997. Agribusiness products accounted for 50.8% of total Brazilian exports. The grain harvest in Brazil, which exceeded 315 million tonnes, directly influenced this result. The quantum index of agribusiness exports in May grew by 27.6%, enabling a new record despite the reduction in international prices. In the first five months of this year, Brazilian agribusiness exports totaled US$67.3 billion, reflecting a growth of 5.8% compared to the same period in 2022, when sales amounted to US$64 billion. Agribusiness accounted for nearly half of Brazil’s total foreign sales, with a share of 49.5%.
