Brazil’s Center-South sugarcane area available for harvest reached 9.17 million hectares in the 2026/27 season, up 3.1% from 8.9 million hectares a year earlier, according to Serasa Experian. Mato Grosso do Sul increased its share of regional production, with Nova Alvorada do Sul becoming the country’s largest municipality by harvest-ready sugarcane area. São Paulo remains the leading state with 5.24 million hectares, followed by Goiás, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul. The four states account for 91% of the mapped area. The satellite and geotechnology-based survey indicates that ranking changes among municipalities were mainly linked to sugarcane field renewal cycles.
