BRAZIL-AFRICA TRADE GROWS 36.9% IN OCTOBER, UNABLE TO CATCH UP TO PAST RECORDS

From January to October, Brazilian exports to the African continent increased by 42.3%, which totaled US$ 10.446 billion. Conversely, African countries sold a total of US$ 6.808 billion to the South American nation (an increase of 27.1%). These figures, though, are still short of the record set in 2013, when the trade flow (exports+imports) totaled US$ 28.465 billion. Sugar and molasses topped the list of exports to Africa, accounting for US$ 2.8 billion, or 27% of total sales to that continent. Egypt was the most important destination for Brazilian exports to Africa. Among Brazil’s biggest partners this year were Algeria, South Africa, Morocco, Nigeria and Angola. Morocco led the list of countries that exported the most to Brazil between January and October this year.
