BAHIA PORTS SEES LARGEST THROUGHPUT IN OVER 13 MONTHS

In July 2023, ports in Brazil’s Bahia recorded a throughput of 1,209,653 tonnes, marking a significant 7.87% increase compared to the same period in 2022 when 1,121,392 tonnes were handled. This figure represents the highest monthly throughput achieved by the port authority CODEBA since June 2022. A notable standout is the Port of Ilhéus, which handled 112,086 tonnes in July 2023, showcasing an impressive 86.53% surge compared to July 2022’s 60,091 tonnes. This outstanding performance was primarily driven by the increased movement of soy at the port. The Port of Aratu-Candeias exhibited noteworthy growth, handling 681,940 tonnes in July 2023, a 17.03% rise. The Port of Salvador boasts a silver lining through its overall export growth in the year 2023.
