ARMED FORCES INSPECTED NEARLY 10 THOUSAND VEHICLES IN FIVE MONTHS OF OPERATION AT THE PORT OF SANTOS

Operation Lais de Guia, under Brazil’s Armed Forces deployment, has been ongoing at Santos Port for nearly five months. Navy troops seized 93kg of drugs, three firearms, and eight vehicles. Over 9,500 inspections covered vehicles, vessels, and individuals. The operation, expected to continue until May 3rd, aims to combat drug and arms trafficking. Inspection scope includes ships’ hulls, containers, and cargo. Diver operations prevent illicit attachments to ship hulls. Preventive measures involve constant Navy presence and patrols, while repressive measures target identified ships. Over 100 operations along São Paulo’s coast have been conducted in partnership with security agencies.
