AÇU PORT HELPS DRIVE GROWTH IN RIO DE JANEIRO STATE EXPORTS

The northern region of Rio de Janeiro State saw a notable 51% surge in exports, totaling US$ 3.8 billion, largely driven by São João da Barra, which facilitated 97% of crude oil exports through the Port of Açu. International sales in São João da Barra surged by 85%, reaching US$ 3.6 billion. Firjan emphasizes the need for infrastructure development to sustain growth, with a focus on renewable energy initiatives. Mayor Carla Caputi prioritizes holistic development, including social initiatives and vocational training. Imports, primarily from the United States, increased by 42%, amounting to US$ 1.4 billion. Rio State maintained a trade surplus of US$ 23.8 billion, with regions outside the capital contributing significantly to exports. However, there was a notable decline in machinery and equipment imports.
