CENTER-SOUTH REGION’S SUGARCANE PRODUCTIVITY IS THE HIGHEST IN 20 YEARS

Sugarcane harvest productivity in Brazil’s center-south region has been the greatest in the previous two decades, averaging 91.1 tons per hectare. This is a huge rise over the previous crop, which averaged just 68.5 tons per hectare. Productivity has increased the most in the regions of Araçatuba, Piracicaba, and Sao Carlos. Despite this, the quality of raw materials gathered in September was consistent with the previous harvest. Brazil’s wheat production could be a record with an estimated 10.81 million tons, showing an increase of 2.5% compared to the previous season. This is mainly due to an increase in the planted area, although wheat productivity has decreased. Global wheat production is estimated to be around 787.3 million tons, with ending stocks of 258.6 million tons.
