RECIFE PORT POSTS R$110 MLN INVESTMENT TO EXPAND THROUGHPUT

Recife Port secured R$110 million in investments to boost operational capacity and safety, including R$95 million for dredging access channels and berths and R$15 million for the installation of 97 new fenders. Scheduled from June to December, the works will maintain a 12 metre draft, enabling larger vessel calls and supporting higher cargo volumes. Port estimates indicate that each additional metre of operational depth can add roughly 2,400 tonnes of general cargo and 500 tonnes of dry bulk per vessel. The package also extends the port’s state management agreement by five years, providing continuity for expansion and modernization projects. Dredging is expected to support both cargo operations and cruise traffic, strengthening Recife’s position on domestic and international shipping routes.
