Terminal Santa Catarina (TESC), at the Port of São Francisco do Sul, has started a BRL 100 mn pier extension to increase capacity and accommodate larger vessels. Completion is scheduled for 2026. The project will enable simultaneous berthing of two ships and is the first phase of a broader modernization plan. Concessionaire Solaris is seeking federal approval for an additional investment cycle exceeding BRL 500 mn, with a decision expected in May 2026. The upgrade aligns with the Babitonga Bay dredging project, which will deepen the access channel to 16 meters, allowing higher-capacity vessel classes. The expansion targets gains in dry bulk throughput—fertilizers, soybeans, corn, soybean meal, sugar—while supporting general cargo, including steel and project cargo, improving terminal efficiency and export competitiveness.
