2023/24 SUGARCANE CROP ESTIMATED AT 590 MILLION TONS BY DATAGRO

According to the first estimate by DATAGRO consulting, the 2023/24 sugarcane crop in Brazil’s Center-South (the main sugarcane producing region in Brazil) is expected to reach 590 million tons, close to the previous year’s record. If confirmed, the volume will represent a 7% increase over the 2022/23 cycle in a more favorable climate. In the new season, total ATR supply is expected to increase by 7.7%. The sugar mix is expected to rise from 45.6% in 2022/23 to 47.9% in the coming season. Sugar production is expected to be 38 million tons, up about 13% from the previous cycle, while ethanol production is expected to increase by close to 6% to 31.07 billion liters, aided by corn ethanol.
