2022/23 GRAIN CROP IN MINAS GERAIS ON THE WAY TO A NEW RECORD

In Minas Gerais, the 2022/23 grain harvest is about to reach a new record. According to research by Brazil’s Supply Company (Conab), the estimate is 18.4 million tons, a growth of 9.8% compared to the 2021/22 harvest. Soybean production stands out and is expected to grow by 5.4% to 8 million tons. The production increase in the state is due to a 3.9 percent growth in planted area, which now stands at 4.2 million hectares. In addition, there was an increase in productivity, with an expected harvest of 4.3 tons per hectare, up 5.7%. Corn production, on the other hand, is expected to drop by 5.9%, reaching 5.18 million tons.
