WHEAT CROP TO GROW BY 37% IN SANTA CATARINA, EPAGRI SAYS

Wheat crop is likely to grow by around 37%, according to Epagri/Cepa. By the end of October, the entity pointed to a wheat-planted area of 139.2 thousand hectares, an increase of 35% when compared to the last season. Productivity is expected to grow by just 1% and may change upwards or downwards depending on weather conditions. More than 475 thousand tons are expected to be harvested. The production of the 1st corn crop in 2022/23 in the state of Santa Catarina is estimated at 2.63 million tons, a recovery after two harvests with substantial reductions in the state. The entity now estimates that the soybean cultivation area will reach 730,000 hectares, producing 2.66 million tons.
