VOLUME OF FERTILIZERS KEEPS UP IN BRAZIL PORTS

The ports that mostly handled fertilizers in November this year were Paranaguá, with 897,141 tons; Rio Grande, with 458,306 tons; and Santos, with 451,496 tons. The volume in the three ports increased respectively by 15%, 5% and 5.3%. In comparison with November 2019, the growth was of 27% in the Port of Paranaguá, 57% in the Port of Rio Grande. In the Port of Santos, the volume handled dropped by 13%. The most imported inputs were Potassium Chloride, with 1.54 million tons; Urea, with 897 thousand tons; and Ammonium Sulfate, with 452 thousand tons. Compared to November 2019, the sector stepped up imports, by 22% for Potassium Chloride, 57% for Ammonium Sulphate and 61% for Urea. In the sum of all imported products in the month, 2020 surpassed 2019 by 18%. The fall in the value of US dollar in fertilizers also contributed to the increase in imports.
