VLI RECORDS THE FIRST SHIPMENTS OF THE 2022 SUGAR CROP

Sugar wagons are being unloaded at the Luiz Antônio Mesquita Integrator Port Terminal (Tiplam) in Santos, symbolizing the beginning of the 2022 harvest. Many shipments of the commodity depart from the Integrator Terminal Uberaba (TIUB) in Minas Gerais and the Guará Integrator Terminal (TIGU) in São Paulo and arrive at Tiplam through the Centro-Atlântica Railroad (FCA) to be exported mainly to Asia and the Middle East. The high capillarity of VLI’s multimodal system allows the sugar harvested in the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais, and São Paulo to be transported to the Santos port complex. See below the track record of sugar exports through the Port of Santos in the period from January 2021 to March 2022. The data below was provided by Datamar’s data service DataLiner. According to the National Supply Company (Conab), sugar production in Brazil’s Center-South is 36.4 million tonnes this year, up 13.3% from the harvest in 2021.
