The Vila Velha Port Terminal in Espírito Santo has commissioned the 65,000 sqm Penedo Yard, a R$35 million investment that increases the complex’s operating capacity by approximately 40%. The expansion adds throughput capacity of up to 8,000 containers per month and provides additional space for imported cargo, including vehicles, easing pressure on existing storage and handling areas. The project concludes an investment cycle launched in 2021, bringing total investments at the terminal to R$205 million. The added yard capacity is expected to improve cargo flow, storage efficiency and release operations during peak import periods. The development comes as Brazil records growing volumes of imported electric and hybrid vehicles, strengthening Vila Velha’s position as a gateway for higher-value cargo and supporting the terminal’s ability to attract shipping services and long-term logistics contracts.
