THE PORT OF IMBITUBA SAW A 45.9% INCREASE IN CARGO HANDLING IN APRIL

The Port of Imbituba ended April with a 45.9% increase in its cargo handling index compared to the same period in 2021. Compared to the same month in past years, the volume of 680,954 tonnes is the largest ever recorded, making it rank 4th among Imbituba’s largest monthly transactions. In 2022 so far, the public port located in the south of Santa Catarina handled more than 2.6 million tonnes and received 117 vessels. Solid bulk products accounted for 86.2% of April’s operations. Most of it was petroleum coke, followed by iron ore, corn, and bituminous coal. According to the company that manages the Port, the port shall reach a new historical record in 2022, exceeding 7 million tonnes per year.
