THE PORT AUTHORITY OF SANTOS HIRES COMPANY THAT WILL MODEL THE SANTOS-GUARUJÁ TUNNEL

The Port Authority of Santos (APS) has formally kicked off the construction of the Santos-Guarujá tunnel after receiving the approval of its Board of Directors (Consad) on December 21. After 98 years, a long-awaited contract has been inked with the Vanzolini Foundation, marking the initial steps for developing the project’s legal and economic model. APS President Anderson Pomini celebrated that the construction is finally underway after months of discussions and 18 meetings between the municipalities of Santos and Guarujá, the port community, and the local population. Hiring a consultancy for the Santos-Guarujá tunnel modeling is crucial as it will ensure the safety of the endeavor, which is already enrolled in the New Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). “Thus, we comply with the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, and President Lula’s request, who seek swiftness in this project, a priority for Brazil, given that the Port of Santos is responsible for 30% of the country’s trade with the world,” concluded the APS president.
