TEREOS ENDS 2022/2023 HARVEST WITH CRUSHING 17.3 MILLION OF SUGARCANE

The Brazilian branch of food and energy company Tereos ended the 2022/23 harvest by crushing 17.3 million tons of cane, an increase of 11% on the previous season. In total, Tereos in Brazil produced 1.6 million tons of sugar, 480 million liters of ethanol and generated 1.4 GWh of electricity from sugarcane biomass. About 67% of production was for sugar and 33% for ethanol. Besides sugar, ethanol exports stood out this year, breaking a record, increasing by 25% when compared to 2021. “There are ethanol plants in Europe that are running on gas, which is very expensive. So, ethanol made sense even at these prices,” explained Pierre Santoul, President of Tereos Brazil.
