SUGAR/SECEX: EXPORTS IN JULY INCREASE 30% IN REVENUE AND 3.5% IN VOLUME COMPARED TO JULY/22

Brazil exported 2.975 million tons of sugar and molasses in July, 3.5% above the same month in 2022, when it shipped 2.875 million tons. The volume, however, was lower than that recorded in June this year, of 3.082 million tons. The revenue was 30% above the annual comparison, with US$ 1.494 billion in the last month, against US$ 1.150 billion in July last year. The result was also above the billing in June, of R$ 1.48 billion. The advance in sugarcane crushing in the Center-South in the 2023/24 harvest (April 2023 to March 2024) may have helped to increase volumes shipped abroad. On the other hand, even with the increase in Brazilian supply, the availability of the sweetener remains limited in the foreign market, which drives prices.
