SUGAR PRODUCTION RISES IN BRAZIL’S CENTER-SOUTH REGION, STOCK LEVELS OF ETHANOL GO DOWN

Brazil’s center-south has given preference to sugar production, according to Industry group Unica. About 48.4% of the raw material was destined to manufacture sugar, an increase of 2% when compared to the same period of the previous cycle. As a result, there was less cane to produce ethanol. The stock volume of ethanol was 8.06 billion liters on September 1, dropping by 5.2%. The result reflects stock deceleration trends. According to figures from Unica, mills in the center-south region produced 2.25 billion liters of ethanol in the period, with output falling 1.2%. Of this total, the equivalent of 35.1% was stored.
