SUGAR OUTPUT TOTALS 33.46 MILLION TONS BY THE END OF 2022

Sugar production has totaled 33.46 million tons since the start of the 2022/23 harvest, up from 32.06 million tons in the previous cycle (+4.37%). The current harvest saw 15.53% of autonomous distilleries participate in the crushing of Brazil’s Center-South from April to December, compared to 16.24% in the 2021/22 cycle. From the start of the current agricultural cycle until the end of December, ethanol manufacturing totaled 27.47 billion liters (+3.08%), with 15.80 billion being hydrous ethanol (-0.21%) and 11.66 billion being anhydrous (+7.90%). In the accumulated since the beginning of the harvest, the production of ethanol from corn reached 3.25 billion liters, an advance of 26.18% in comparison with the same period of last year.
