SUGAR EXPORT OUTPUT SURGES IN MAY 2023

Brazil exported 2.471 million tons of sugar and molasses last month, up 57.6% from 1.568 million tons during the same time period in 2022. Likewise, the total amount surpassed the 971.59 thousand tons of the previous month. When compared to May 2022, when revenue was USD 606.38 million, it climbed by nearly 92% to USD 1.162 billion. The result was more than the USD 460.16 million in billing from April. The International Sugar Organization (OIA) was previously expecting an increase in sugar exports from Brazil in the months ahead due to sales of the 2023–24 harvest. “Starting in May, Brazilian raw materials will supply most of the global import demand”, said the entity.
