SUGAR ENERGY SECTOR STANDS OUT IN EXPORTS FROM SAO PAULO

The sugar-energy sector had the biggest share of SP agriculture exports in the year-to-date assessment, accounting for 34.1%. This is an increase of 25.9% in values and 6.6% in foreign sales volumes. The increase is primarily due to the rise in sugar exports by 30.1% in value and 6.3% in volume. Additionally, the average price of the commodity increased in value by 21.9% during this period, contributing to the increase. The shipment of alcohol (ethanol) has also increased by 11.2% in volume and 2.5% in value. The sugar-energy complex had a total export value of USD 6.09 billion, with sugar representing 87.5% and ethanol accounting for 12.5%.
