SUAPE MOORS THE LARGEST VESSEL IN ITS HISTORY

The Port of Suape, located between the municipalities of Cabo de Santo Agostinho and Ipojuca, both in the Metropolitan Region of Recife, received the largest vessel ever moored there, the MSC New Haven. The Portuguese-flagged containership is 333.99 meters long and 42 meters wide. The vessel, which landed 391 containers in Suape, is also one of the largest ever received in Pernambuco. After the operation, which took place on the 22nd, the ship headed for the Port of Salvador in Bahia. According to the Port of Suape, the arrival of vessels of such size was only possible after Decree No. 136/19 of December 2019, which established the operational parameters and requirements for maneuvering container ships. As a result, the port became capable of receiving vessels with a total length of up to 336.99 meters, and a maximum width of 48.99 meters.
